The Quick And Easy Sleep Apnea Book $7.99 If you have sleep apnea, think you might have it, or know someone who does, this book is for you! Sleep apnea is a relatively new subject in health care. It is very common and is associated with many other medical conditions, particularly high blood pressure, heart disease, and strokes. However, awareness about sleep apnea is lacking, and misconceptions are common. It is very easy to pass off the signs and symptoms of sleep apnea. Most people with this condition don’t even know they have it. This is very unfortunate because effective, even life-transforming, treatment is available. The consequences of untreated sleep apnea are wide-ranging and can be devastating. This book is a concise, illustrated, practical, and readable guide to this common and potentially serious condition. The reader will learn about when to suspect sleep apnea, what other conditions are linked to it, why it is important to detect it, how to get tested for it, and what to expect if treatment is required. The book is written by a doctor who is involved in the care of patients with sleep apnea and many of the health problems that go with it. |

Obstructive Sleep Apnea $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep apnea caused by obstruction of the airway. It is characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. These episodes, called apneas (literally, without breath ), each last long enough that one or more breaths are missed, and occur repeatedly throughout sleep. In obstructive sleep apnea, breathing is interrupted by a physical block to airflow, despite the effort to breathe. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Central Sleep Apnea $89.22 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Central sleep apnea (CSA) or central sleep apnea syndrome (CSAS) is a sleeprelated disorder in which the effort to breathe is diminished or absent, typically for 10 to 30 seconds, either intermittently or in cycles and is usually associated with a reduction in blood oxygen saturation. It is a collective term referring to two breathing disorders: CheyneStokes respiration and periodic breathing. CSA is usually due to an instability in the bodys feedback mechanisms that control respiration. Adults suffering from congestive heart failure are at risk for a form of central sleep apnea called CheyneStokes respiration. This is periodic breathing with recurrent episodes of apnea alternating with episodes of rapid breathing. Assessment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome $124.27 Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is a very common sleep disorder that is associated with cardiovascular and neurocognitive impairments. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the morbidity of OSAS are not completely understood, which make the research on the OSAS an important issue. Obstructive sleep apnea episodes were carefully selected and segmented in three parts, the OSA event and a certain period immediately preceding and following the event, in order to assess the dynamic electroencephalographic (EEG) power changes, in four frequency bands: delta, theta, alpha and beta. Autonomic Nervous System activity was also assessed through the spectral analysis of heart rate variability components in the three mentioned periods. Continuous wavelet transform was the elected spectral analysis technique. To better visualize the EEG spectral changes during OSA episodes across the whole brain, topographic EEG brain mapping was carried out. This research should be especially useful to health professionals, who are focused on sleep disorders, or to engineers interested in the analysis of biomedical signals. Apnea $78.07 Apnea is a term for suspension of external breathing. During apnea there is no movement of the muscles of respiration and the volume of the lungs initially remains unchanged. Depending on the patency (openness) of the airways there may or may not be a flow of gas between the lungs and the environment; gas exchange within the lungs and cellular respiration is not affected. Apnea can be voluntarily achieved (e.g., holding ones breath ), drug induced (e.g., opiate toxicity), mechanically induced (e.g., strangulation or choking), or it can occur as a consequence of neurological disease or trauma. Yet research has only just begun to decode the mysteries behind what can go wrong. Here, Dr. Carlos H. Schenck, one of the most prominent sleep doctors and researchers in the country, takes us on an incredible journey into the mechanisms of sleep, and the spectrum of disorders that can occur when these mechanisms go bizarrely awry. Dr. Schenck discusses the causes and treatments for common problems-insomnia, restless legs syndrome, sleep apnea, and more. The answer is that angels do not sleep, but are always serving God by guarding us as we sleep and play.> The text and art combine to convey a message of peace and comfort, while at the same time communicate that the God who made our world and everything in it is the same God who watches over us and cares for us as we sleep.> This picture book for young children can be used by parents as part of the child’s bedtime ritual. The text makes a wonderful transition to bedtime prayers, as the parent and child pray together, “let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe have no power over me.”" |

Sleep with Me: A Novel $7.39 "The day our child was conceived, someone else arrived. She was there as the cells fused, like a ghost." In a moment of giggling chaos, Richard and Lelia sleep together while getting dressed for a holiday party. Arriving late and still flushed, they barely register a slight, drab woman who, like a shadow, threatens the happiness they’ve achieved. Their reality slowly shifts: Mysterious fragments of a story about a troubled child appear on Richard’s email. A friend confides his adulterous affair, and Richard voyeuristically hangs on every detail. Richard grows more ambivalent about the approaching birth of his child; he becomes distracted and remote, and Lelia suspects another woman. In her loneliness and longing Lelia makes a surprising decision that nearly destroys the life that she and Richard have worked so hard to create. Told with astonishing clarity from both Richard and Lelia’s points of view, Sleep with Me is an extraordinary tale of obsession and desire that takes hold, body and soul, and doesn’t let go until the final page is turned. God Can’t Sleep $12.99 “>>>God Can’t Sleep: >Waiting for Daylight On Life’s Dark Nights >>>In this follow-up to his acclaimed debut, True Religion, Palmer Chinchen helps believers develop a God-centered response to suffering. As Christians, we often act as if the right beliefs and behavior will allow us to avoid the darkness of pain. Yet everyone is touched by loneliness, heartbreak, and losing loved ones. And when pain happens, it can seem as if God is asleep, indifferent to our struggles. In this fresh release, Chinchen tackles challenging questions: Where is God when life hurts? How long will I stay in darkness? When the world is so full of bad people, why me? Readers will be encouraged to embrace a Savior who is always awake, and inspire them to carry His light to a hurting world. >>> >>>Product Details>>Page Count: 240>Dimensions: 8.25” (L) x 5.5” (W)>Release: 06//2100>> >>> >>>>A former missionary kid in Liberia and now pastor in Arizona, Chinchen (True Religion) writes an all-in book about life lived full-on. This is not your father’s theodicy; it aims higher than chirpy preacher platitudes and tells the stories of people in international settings from Haiti to Liberia who embody God’s goodness to overcome evil in the world. Chinchen’s chapter on heaven is powerful and moving, interweaving the little that Scripture has to say about it with God’s “snapshots” of heaven on earth. His writing is low on religious sap and backed up with life experience. His fresh voice is as good as Rob Bell’s or Donald Miller’s, but a cut above them theologically, and he offers more authentic global stories to boot. The 20- and 30-something generation will devour this one like termites in a lumberyard. This isn’t the next Blue Like Jazz; it’s better. (June) >>Reviewed on: 05/09/2011 >>>> > > > > > > >” |

Eagles $0.01 Next to family and country, there is little else more important to the typical resident of the Delaware Valley than their Philadelphia Eagles. These rabid fans will brave an Arctic freeze, a tumultuous downpour, or a sweltering August night to watch their Eagles fly. The players have never been mere numbers to the faithful, but more like members of their extended families. Eagles: Where Have You Gone? takes an informative stroll down memory lane and includes many of the players who have made being an Eagles fan so much fun in Philadelphia. From Norm Van Brocklin to Jeff Kemp, Wilbert Montgomery to Cyril Pinder, Jim Skaggs to Guy Morris, Don Hultz to Tim Rossovich, the book looks not only at the playing careers of many former Birds, but also their lives after their playing days ended. Many former players have stayed in the game at some level and enjoyed coaching. Many fans, however, do not know which former Eagles player later became an NFL official, which former defensive standout became a salmon fisherman, which wide receiver became a respected judge, or which player now operates hospital-based centers treating sleep apnea. Trivia buffs will also be challenged to name the former Eagle who owns the NFL record for opponents’ fumble recoveries in one season with nine. Local icons such as Chuck Bednarik, Tom Brookshier, and Ron Jaworski have remained in the spotlight years after their playing days ended. But Eagles: Where Have You Gone? Tells fans about what happened to players like Pete Liske, Leroy Keyes, and Super Bill Bradley, all Philly favorites. It also answers questions about whether or not Tony Franklin found his other shoe or if Happy Feller is a happy fellow these days. The bookgoes beyond the helmet and shoulder pads and takes a look at the human side of these former guardians of the gridiron. While the litany of Philadelphia Eagles teams may not have been as successful as some would have liked over the years, many of the players have earned Medals of Honor |

Integration in Respiratory Control: From Genes to Systems $57.64 The neuronal circuit that generates breathing, the regulation of breathing, and its integration with other physiological systems is of utmost importance to human health. However, breathing abnormalities are common, and sleep apnea alone is estimated to affect 18 million in the United States. As one of the major complications of obesity, the prevalence of sleep apnea is likely to increase in the coming years. Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS), asthma, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and the pathophysiology of panic and related anxiety states also involve aspects of respiratory control.Integration in Respiratory Control: From Genes to Systems comprises the proceedings of the 10th Oxford Conference held at Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, from the 19th to the 24th of September, 2006. This series of meetings was originally begun to bring physiologists and mathematicians together, in order to address critical issues in understanding the control of breathing. This volume includes the latest findings and developments at the genomic, cellular, and system levels that pertain to the physiology of cardio-respiratory control, including integrative physiology and modeling, central integration and neuromodulation, rhythm generation and plasticity, chemosensory transduction and signaling, pre- and post-natal development, and post-genomic perspectives.About the Editors:Drs. Marc J. Poulin and Richard J.A. Wilson are Associate Professors in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. |

Sleepfaring: A Journey through the Science of Sleep $3.59 Why do we sleep? Are we sleeping enough? Do we suffer stress from “sleep debt”? Why do some of us struggle with sleep disorders? And how can we tackle sleep problems? These are the kinds of questions that make many of us toss and turn all night. Jim Horne finds answers to these questions and many more in Sleepfaring, a journey through the science and the secrets of sleep. He reveals what goes on in our brains behind the veil of sleep, looks at body clocks, the values of napping, and the controversial question of “sleep debt,” and also gives some hints from the latest sleep research that may just help you get a better night’s rest. In recent years, the nature of sleep, our sleeping patterns, how much sleep we need, and the dangers of lack of sleep have become increasingly important, as people work longer hours, styles of working have altered, and the separation between workplace and home has been eroded by cell phones and the internet. From drowsiness at the wheel, to stress and insomnia, this is a subject that truly matters to people. Horne draws on the latest research in brain physiology, psychology, medicine, and the many social factors that contribute to sleep problems to reveal what science has discovered about sleep, and problems related to sleep-from snoring to sleep apnea. Nor does Horne shy away from controversy, challenging, for example, the conventional wisdom on the amount of sleep we actually need. For anyone wishing to know more about the many mysterious processes that begin when we close our eyes each night, Sleepfaring offers a wealth of insight and information. |
